This class is the easier version of boot camp, not everyone wants the intensive weekend. Come play make a small leaded border panel, use bevels, cut, and put together a panel and leave with it. you will have fun and make the project and colors of your choice. Last year two couples came to this class to celebrate Valentines Day. Bronze and Copper PMC are less expensive than Silver PMC so you can let your imagination run wild in this class! Kathy will teach you the secrets of drying, working with, and finishing this colorful and fascinating medium. Hundreds of ideas will inspire you to design unique earrings, charms, pendants and focal clasps in this fun class. Class meets Saturday, and again on Monday evening for finishing and patinaing your work. Kathy will do the firings for you on Sunday. Note the lower charge for materials.Kathy will provide you with both Bronze and Copper and all the little goodies you will use with them.

You will learn how to create 5-6 layer glass jewelry pieces along with dichroic shading and design, creating your own patterned dichroic glass. Intricate etching techniques are taught along with creating your own frit blends and using glassline paints tocreate your own landscapes. As the creator of those cool new decals you may have seen about, Tanya demonstrates serious decal work, while even adding your own color to the decals! You will learn coldworking techniques that are essential to producing quality work, including how to shape and set your pieces in silver settings. Marketing your jewelry is also discussed. This class fills up quickly! Students will leave with 6 - 8 jewelry projects. Basic fusing knowledge along with cutting skills are preferred,but not necessary. Students are required to bring their own dust mask, glass cutter and breaking pliers. You will need to bring a bring a dremel with you to class!

Make a beautiful bevel box in one evening! No experience necessary. In this class you will learn the tricks of 3D assembly, stained glass soldering and patina's. The top and sides of the box are clear, sparkly beveled glass...choose a colored glass for the bottom of the box.

Do you want to advance your skills in beadmaking, explore new material, make striped cane, add silvered glass to your repetoir, get better at shaping, encasing? I can help you with any of these things on this fun day of beadmaking. You must have previousbeadmaking experience. This class is a good exploration for those who want more toys to draw from in their creative bank.

Learn how to safely fire up a hot head dorch and make beautiful glass beads. This is a fun date night to do with a girlfriend, daughter or husband.Yep guys love to play with fire too! WHOOPS, new date due to EASTER! April 14 & 15, 2012 - 9am - 5pm

Would you like to come play with glass and make 10 beautiful pendants? On April 20, I will show you how to cut and fit and design 5 styles of pendants using system 96 glass. We will cover the basic fusion terminology and different kinds of firings. You could choose to make some refrigerator magnets. Some projects will be fired in class but will be too hot to take home that day. Others I will fire for you after class and they will be available for pick up a few days later.

April 20, 2012 - 6pm - 9pm

In the two-day workshop, you will explore the many facets of working with silver glass. For reducing silver glass you will learn how to work with different reduction flames, varying length of reducing time, and changing placements and positions of the bead in the flame, to achieve various results. For striking silver glass you will learn how to achieve and recognize the "first strike," thus enabling you to duplicate the striking sequence on your own.

Once the basic technique of working with silver glass is achieved, you will learn the different ways of using silver glass to expand your repertoire. Some of the techniques we will cover include encasing silver glass, surface decoration with silver glass, silver glass twisties, and using silver glass in gravity swirls. In addition to how to achieve the best results with this mysterious glass, special emphasis will be placed on design and perfect bead shaping. With the exception of the initial instruction on how to strike and reduce spacer beads, you will be making large bicone/tubular shaped beads.

Students should be at an intermediate skill level and comfortable working on a fuel/oxygen mix torch.

This ever popular fun day has been scheduled for Sunday May 6th. In this 9-4 class you will learn how to work Precious Metal Clay to design make your own pr of earrings, clasps,and pendants. Patinas and use of Korean Gold will be taught too.

I will show you how to measure, use crimps, round nose and flat nose jewelry pliers,use a bale,use headpins and more. You can bring your own art glass beads or choose from mine. You will be able to create wonderful customized gifts for your family and friends. Hint- Mothers day will be here soon! Bring your own filler beads or use ours. Materialsdepends on what you choose. Please bring one side cutters, two small flat jewelry pliers, one small round nose pliers, bead crimping pliers, 49 strand beadalon. You will also need a clasp and headpins, and silver crimps. We have an excellent selection ofthese things at low prices if you want to get them here. Let us know if you need some tools to borrow.

This summer Cabrillo is revisiting a popular way to learn stained glass. One weekend , two days, my equipment, your projects. I have a folder of patterns preselected for you. All you do is pick the colors you would like to work in. You will have time to produce two small panels. Projects are easy and you can make them as colorful or classic as you like. I have seen impressive results from students who started here and now make incredible glass art. This is the not so intense version of my boot camp. Patterns are free, You my use all my tools and equipment. You pay for glass and materials only.You can choose from glass I will bring on that weekend or come in to the store for a larger selection ahead of time. Materials will be broken down and available insmall quantities at class so you only pay for what you need.

Come play with fire safely! You can have fun and learn how to make beads on an inexpensive torch called a hot head. I bring each student a set up and teach you how to work with glass rods to form individual art glass beads. You choose the colors and shapes and complexity of your beads. Its challenging, fun and a little addictive.
